NADH-dependent butanol dehydrogenase A (bdhA/BDH I)
This homodimer belongs to the iron-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family for alcohol metabolism; butanol biosynthesis. Butanol dehydrogenase catalyzes the final reaction in the formation of butanol. NADH-dependent butanol dehydrogenase is a product of the bdhA gene of Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824. While bdhA is primarily NADH-dependent, some activity with NADPH was observed. [Walter et al. 1992, Noelling et al. 2001, Peterson et al. 1991]
